Lopes Mendes beach is reputed to be one of the most beautiful in Brazil. It is almost 3 km long, is completely uninhabited and well preserved. A paradise that manages to stand out among so many other beauties of Ilha Grande.

Praia de Lopes Mendes faces the open sea, which makes the sea more agitated and cold. The waves attract a large number of surfers and make Lopes Mendes the favorite to practice this sport on the island. Despite the waves, the beach is shallow and the water quality is excellent. With a little attention, it’s okay to bathe in the sea.

There are several ways to get to Lopes Mendes.

By Boat + Trail

Every day, boats depart from Vila do Abraão that take visitors to Praia do Pouso, from there just follow the 1 km trail (T11) to Lopes Mendes. The journey is easy and takes 20 to 30 minutes. The boats (schooner transfers) that take you from Vila do Abraão to Praia do Pouso cost R$50 round trip, and the price may change depending on high and low season. The boat that goes to Praia do Pouso sails in the closed sea, so it is always available. Before leaving the boat, carefully check the departure times to return to Vila do Abraão.
Generally the times are as follows: Abraão x Pouso: 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30; Pouso x Abraão 15:30 and 17:30. In Praia do Pouso, there are some options for meals and the beach is quite beautiful and calm. It’s worth splitting the time between the two. Keep in mind that the ride back on the trail also takes between 20 and 30 minutes. Check the clock so you don’t fall behind.

By Taxi Boat + Trail

Every day there are Taxi Boats available from Vila do Abraão that take visitors to Praia do Pouso. From there, just take the 1 km trail to Lopes Mendes. The Taxi Boat does not go to the beach itself, it is forbidden to go out to the open sea on these boats.

Hiking

The more willing can take the longest trail, starting from Abraão. There is an exit at the beginning of Praia da Julia where the first route begins on the T10 passing through Praia de Palmas, and ends in Pouso Beach. Then, more calmly, follow the T11. The total route is 5,6Km and takes around 3 hours to complete. Always go prepared, with at least 2 liters of drinking water.

Super Sul Speedboat Tour

The speedboat ride that makes the Super Sul itinerary passes through Lopes Mendes Beach, but depends on excellent sea conditions to sail. It is common that this tour does not leave in bad weather. Don’t count on him to meet Lopes Mendes.
